Intensive care unit (ICU) patients frequently suffer problems associated with both diarrhoea and constipation. Strategies to optimise the management of these conditions need to focus on improving the communication between staff and ensuring effective treatment is implemented. The team involved in this study developed a Bowel Management Protocol (BMP).
