A Research of Financial Literacy, Financial Behavior and Financial Planning of College Students in Taichung

[[abstract]]The low income of graduates in Taiwan has become a serious issue. Besides, more undergraduates have applied for student loan, which leads to their financial burden nowadays. Given most of the undergraduates will enter the workforce right immediately after graduation, it is important for them to have correct financial knowledge and the concept of financial management, to develop financial hobbies, and to establish financial activity while they are still in campus. This current research aims at discovering the interrelationship between financial literacy, financial behavior, and financial planning of college students in Taichung. Based upon the results, the university students in Taichung seldom read financial-related reports or articles and were less interested in financial management although they knew the importance of it. In terms of financial behavior, nearly half of the students kept the hobby of accounting. In addition, a part of students were found to save their money in banks or to use stock marketing, fund and insurance as the tools to manage their finance. Finally, for the financial planning part, most of the students had financial management due to their career plans, personal or family expenses and they were willing to distribute some of their money to be a part of the financial planning. To summarize, no significant difference has been found in the students’ responses to whether to apply for loan or not, to disposable finance and to the necessary of financial management. Besides, the different attributes of university students has showed significant differences in financial management while financial behavior and planning has low significant difference
