In this essay we consider the current status, and future directions, of international collaboration between colleagues doing Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) work. We start by offering a working definition of collaboration. Then we address the increasingly collaborative nature of work in many academic spheres, and describe models of Higher Education collaboration that we can use to frame our thinking about international SoTL collaboration. Next we explicate some of the initiatives we have instigated, and research we have undertaken, to explore and facilitate international collaboration in SoTL. We finish by identifying a set of challenges that confront international SoTL collaborators and offer suggestions for addressing those ch...
