The proposed upgrade of the LHC1 to SLHC2, planned for the period after about 10 years of LHC operation at design parameters and an integrated luminosity of about 500 fb−1, will increase the peak luminosity of the collider by a factor of 10 to 1035 cm−2s−1. To keep the amounts of data, resulting especially from the increased muon rates at these lumi- nosities, manageable, a new 2D detector component for the CMS detector has been suggested, the Muon Track fast Tag.
