Migration of people across international borders has been increasing in the past decades. Less than half of the total immigrants across the world are women of childbearing age. Pregnant immigrant women in need of maternity care are often faced by many challenges. In this thesis, we describe the communication challenges faced by pregnant immigrant women during the perinatal period and the consequences of these challenges. The aim of this thesis is to improve the communication between pregnant immigrant women and the healthcare provider.
