Objectives This in vitro study describes and characterizes a developed novel method to produce coatings on Ti. Hydrophobic coatings on substrates are needed in prosthetic dentistry to promote durable adhesion between luting resin cements and coated Ti surfaces. In implant dentistry the hydrophobic coatings on a Ti implant might be beneficial for osseointegration, preventing bacteria adhesion and for enhancement of resin composite adhesion as well.
