The presence and extinction of Elephas antiquus Falconer and Cautley, 1847, in Europe

We discuss seven radiocarbon dates from remains of the straight-tusked elephant, Elephas antiquus Falconer and Cautley, 1847, from The Netherlands. These dates show that there is a strong possibility that this species became extinct much later in North Western Europe as is commonly accepted.
