Using the concepts 'liminality' and 'late style', of respectively Victor Turner and Edward Said, the author reconstructs and analyses Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa's (1896-1957) late tranformation from a well-read Sicilian nobleman into an energetic author and novelist (Il Gattopardo/The Leopard, 1957)
