A new styrene-substituted chlorocyclotriphosphazene, gem-methyl(vinylbenzyl) tetrachlorocyclotriphosphazene, has been prepared from vinylbenzylmagnesium chloride and hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene. The organosubstituted chlorocyclotriphosphazene has been used in radical homo- and copolymerization with methyl methacrylate. The reactivity ratios for the MMA copolymerization show a small effect of the phosphazene ring on the olefin reactivity. All these polymers exhibit flame-retardant properties
