Preparation of the title compound (1) is reported together with its detailed mass spectrometric investigations, which revealed the high stability of the molecular ion under electron impact and allow its fragmentation pathways to be rationalized. In dichloroethane solution the one-electron oxidation of 1 occurs at the highest potential value so far known for ferrocene molecules (E-degrees' = + 1.19 V, vs S.C.E.)
