The penetration of the dopaminergic D2 agonist S(-)-2-(N-propyl-N-2-thienylethylamino)-5-hydroxytetralin (N-0923) was evaluated in vitro on full-thickness rat skin, using the Franz diffusion cell. The drug was tested as the N-0923 . HCl salt as well as the N-0923 base. The penetration-enhancing effect of Azone was studied in a vehicle concentration of 5%, or after pretreating shaven rat skin in vivo, at several time intervals before the in vitro experiment, with a solution containing 1 or 5% Azone.
