The present paper is on the analysis of surface roughness characteristics Ra\ud , Rq and Rz during the machining of\ud medium carbon steel EN19. The experiments have been done under dry environment by using a coated carbide\ud tool. For the optimization of process parameters Taguchi based Grey Relational Grade method was used.\ud Taguchi’s standard L9 Orthogonal Array was used for conducting the experiments. From the Grey analysis,\ud optimal parametric combination for multi-responses (Ra\ud , Rq and Rz) was found at cutting speed: 225 mm/min,\ud feed: 0.05 mm/rev and depth of cut: 0.4 mm respectively.
