Terra e poder: possibilidades e perspectivas

The article has the aim to situate the thematic land and power for the research about the paranaense West in recent history, in particular for the process of occupation and directed colonization occurred after the middle of 20th century that resulted in the socioeconomic insertion of the region to the economy and to the national State. To this effect, the approach to the question of the land deserves the attention due to the socio-cultural diversity of the society, as well as for the historical transformation produced concerning the condition and existing relation between society-land and among the men in the society. Land of work and/or land of business represent ways of living and very distinct social relations, in the same way that the ownership and the legal property of the land have to do with the significant changes and ruptures in the social formation. The process of appropriation and expropriation of lands (either by the indigenous peoples, of the State or by the squatters) in the West it was experienced, at most, for two previous generations and in several places involved the action of governorship agencies, private and colonizator companies, either by private coercitive ways or by the State. In an analysis of the historiography that talks about this problematic issue, it has been observed that some authors deal with the subject reducing it to a past without law, cutting its bonds with the ruralist oligarchy and the new forms of fight for conquered land in the latest decades, involving landless people
