The goal of the present work was to perform mid-infrared characterization of two dimensional photonic crystal slabs fabricated in silicon with laser interference lithography. A two-dimensional (2D) silicon photonic crystal (PhC), which is designed to provide a modified dispersion for photon energies of less than half of the electronic band gap of silicon, and which has been fabricated by a novel modification of laser interference lithography (LIL), is studied by angular dependent infrared reflectivity and transmission measurements.
