Chronic diseasesaccount for most of all deaths in developed countries and are increasing rampantly in newly industrialized nations. Physical exercise and sedentary behavior are risk factors for the major chronic diseases which increase rampantly in newly industrialized nations. In this paper, time trends of physical exercise and sedentary behavior in Chinese adults are examined and their five years effects on four chronic diseases morbidity are evaluated using logistic regression models with the CHNS data. Trend analyses show that physical exercise decreases while the sedentary behavior increases rapidly.
