For this study we interviewed 24 physics teachers about their opinions on teaching with computer simulations. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether it is possible to distinguish different types of teaching approaches. Our results indicate the existence of two types. The first type is characterized by infrequent use of computer simulations; teacher opinions about teaching with computer simulations with a quick win character; and the purpose to merely use simulations to enhance traditional instruction. The second type can be characterized by frequent simulation use in teaching; nuanced teacher opinions; and the purpose to have enhancements of traditional instruction be accompanied by teaching approaches with an innovative charac...
