In Spanish literature, travelling has always been conditioned by philosophy of space. The interpretations of landscape, territory and history signed by Unamuno, Ortega y Gasset or Eugenio d’Ors influenced the way in which their contemporaries or later traveler writers narrated their travel stories. Such understanding allows to divide Spanish travel writers in pro-spacial writers (they defend, in both explicit or implicit ways, a unique, national and catholic territory) and counter-spacial writers (they argue about this same perspective). The analysis of some aspects of Pemán’s, Díaz-Plaja’s, Aub’s or Gutiérrez Solana’s works, among others, allows a discussion on the possibility of this classification and a reflection on the relationship bet...
