Hyperkeratotic Porokeratosis of Mibelli: A Rare Variant

Porokeratosis is a rare, premalignant keratinization disorder of the skin that is characterized by annular plaques with elevated and hyperkeratotic border and spreads centrifugally. The histopathologic characteristic of porokeratosis is the presence of cornoid lamella. A 47-year-old male patient applied with a complaint of feet pruritus present for 20 years. On dermatologic examination there were fleshy, thick, hyperkeratotic plaques located on dorsal side of the left foot. Histopathologic examination of biopsy specimen taken from the left dorsal foot revealed deep invagination of epidermis into dermis. In this area lamellar keratinous material (cornoid lamella) was observed. In the underlying dermis there was lymphocytic infiltration.The patient was diagnosed to have hyperkeratotic porokeratosis of Mibelli by the help of these histopathologic findings. We have decided to present this case because this condition is rare and could be confused with some other dermatological disorders easily
