In modern power system, Static Compensator (STATCOM) is used to alleviate the transient stability problem\ud and damping power system oscillations. In this paper different STATCOM control scheme using fuzzy logic\ud controller (FLC) and model predictive controller (MPC) for the Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) system in\ud improving transient stability is simulated using MATLAB/ Simulink in power systems block set. PI, FLC and\ud MPC signals are used to control and exchange the required reactive power among the STATCOM and the power\ud grid.
