Irrigation with saline water is a challenge both for scientists and farmers. The success of utilizing such water depends on crop tolerance to salinity. A trial was carried out in a greenhouse at UFERSA, Mossoró, RN, Brazil, aiming at evaluating the effects of irrigation water salinity on initial growth and characteristics related to leaf anatomy in cultivars of pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata D.) and moranga (Cucurbita maxima D.).
