To determine the current status of breast cancer in the city of Cúcuta and its metropolitan area a descriptive study was conducted with 201 patients who were diagnosed in the various institutions of the city during the period from 2002 to 2003. First the medical record was analyzed where they were defined as study variables: incidence, demographic, risk factors, diagnosis, staging and treatment of disease. The incidence for 2003 decreased by 10% over the previous year, the low-income population is the most affected, the age of onset over 40 years covered the 85% of cases.
