The descending necrotizing mediastinitis (MND) is one of the most aggressive forms of lethal mediastinitis. It originates from an oropharyngeal or odontogenic infection that progresses to abscess formation and diffuse necrosis as it moves through the deep cervical fascia into the mediastinum. Set out below is a case of MND. It´s a pathology that requires a high level of suspicion in patients diabetic or immunocompromised with oropharyngeal infections with unfavorable development .
