CAMINHOS PARA A ESTABILIDADE DEMOCRÁTICA NO MERCOSUL: A QUESTÃO DA VENEZUELA / THE PATH TO A DEMOCRATIC STABILITY IN MERCOSUR: VENEZUELA’S CASE

The article’s focus is to correlate the concept of democracy, with the effects of political events that have occurred in Venezuela between 2012 and 2013, analyzing whether there was a violation of the Ushuaia Protocol of 1998 (which establishes the Mercosur Democratic Clause). In a second moment, it is made a comparison between the effects of political events that occurred in Paraguay, in 2012, which culminated the suspension of this country and the entry of Venezuela into Mercosur. Finally we examine the interpretation given by the Venezuelan constitutional court correlating with the contents of the Protocol of Ushuaia. The method is deductive and the methodology consists on the historical – comparative model
