Respiratory system diseases are a major cause of death in Spain. The aim of this study was to describe mortality from respiratory system disease and sex for the period 1992-2001. We report the number of deaths, mean age at death, crude rates per 100,000 people and age-adjusted rates for European population per 100,000 people. The values are higher in men compared to women except for the mean age at death, in which there is an upward trend in the period
