The International Council of Onomastic Sciences (ICOS) organized its twenty-fifth congress entitled Names and their Environment in Glasgow, from the 24th to the 29th of August, 2014. The approximately 250 participants in the congress were able to present the results of their recent research on these various topics: theory of names, cognitive aspects in Onomastics, personal names, place names, urbanonyms, standardization of names, names in language contact, digital names, names in commerce, names in literature; in seven sessions of the congress: Anthroponomastics; Toponomastics; Socioonomastics; Theory/Methodology; Literary Onomastics; Commercial Names; Other Names
