The non-Gaussian velocity distributions in dissipative granular gases were analyzed using numerical simulation. The behavior of the velocity distributions of granular gases as a function of the area fraction and the coefficient of restitution was investigated. The difference between the velocity distributions for uniform and boundary heating was also analyzed. It was observed that the velocity distribution of gases was governed by the coefficient of restitution and the ratio between the average number of heatings and the average number of collisions in the gas
