Objective: Elderly patients constitute the fastest growing segment of the schizophrenia population. Still, their needs for care are poorly understood. This study aimed to gain insight into the care needs of older patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Setting and Participants: Patients, aged 60 years and older, in contact with mental health services within a Dutch psychiatric catchment area, diagnosed with schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Measurements: Needs and the extent to which these were met were assessed from the perspective of both patients and staff members.
