The nature of university choice and living-arrangement decisions of Dutch prospective students is analysed. A random utility maximization nested logit model of living-arrangement and university-choice decisions is estimated. Estimation results show distance deters both prospective students living at the parental home and those living elsewhere. Dutch youngsters appear not to be guided by investment motives.
