<p class="Pa7">The stereotypes of the islamic word are frequently disseminated by through the media, through the signs of the chaos, terror, inferiority and evil. These signs are part of a concept called orientalism, proposed by a historian Edward Said (2007). By understanding of this concept, as a cultural vision of the West over the East, the aim of this work is to understand how is the representation of these signs in the Brazilian press, specifically, in the case of representation Iraq’s coverage of the Gulf War in 1991 and the North American invasion in 2003 by the magazine Veja.
