<p><italic>Lactobacillus sakei</italic> subsp. <italic>sakei</italic> 2a is a bacteriocinogenic lactic acid bacterium isolated from Brazilian pork sausage, capable of inhibiting the growth of microbial pathogens, mainly <italic>Listeria monocytogenes</italic>.
