Some Aspects of the Russian Cossacks’ Participation in the First World War

The article, basing on the analysis of different source and historiographic data, considers some important aspects of the participation of Russia’s Cossack troops in the First World War. The scale of the Cossacks mobilization is shown, the data, concerning the amount of Cossack units are presented. The issues, concerning the Cossacks’ participation in the most important battles are highlighted. The fortitude and heroism, displayed by them in wartime are analyzed. The data, concerning the number of St. George awards, awarded to the Cossacks and their battle honors are revealed
