TOXOCARA EGGS IN CHILDREN KINDERGARTENS IN TRI-CITY AREA AND EVALUATION OF INTERDEPENDENCE QUANTIFICATION OF INVASION WITH FREQUENCY OF ANTIBODIES INCIDENCE AMONG POPULATION UNDER STUDY

The aim of this work was to determine the prevalence of Toxocara canis/cati eggs in outdoor environment in selected places (sand-boxes, children playing areas etc) and to make comparisons with serological data and questionnaires concerning children population living in areas around the places under study. Among 312 soil tested samples 3,5% contained Toxocara spp eggs – only during spring and early summer period. However number of Toxocara spp. eggs in outdoor environment in the area under study was lower in comparison with other places in Poland. A total number of 296 children was assessed – in 18 cases specific antibodies against Toxocara were detected (6,1%). Asymptomatic and covert toxocariosis were predominant
