A mathematical model describing the heat and mass transfer processes of above-surface gasification of coal with high temperature steam is introduced. Numerical studies have allowed determining the temperature profiles according to the length of the sample and composition of gasification end products. It is found that such parameters as porosity of gasified fuel and oxidant flow have little influence on the composition of the synthesis gas. The main parameter is the temperature of the feed oxidant
