The north Peruvian coast is a territory that presents a\ud process of gradual desertification that has developed\ud into loss of ecosystems and the advance of the desert.\ud The man has been the principal factor of this loss of\ud biodiversity. Different societies have occupied this\ud territory and each one has altered the ecosystem with\ud the productive system it had used. These societies\ud have managed their natural environment since ancient\ud times in different ways. The man has assimilated,\ud has adapted and imposed their mark on the territory\ud occupied. In this process, the man has acquired\ud through observation and experimentation knowledge\ud about the characteristics of the north peruvian cost to\ud get the maximun benefit. But other societies have not\ud learnt and gone on contaminated it, suffering serious\ud consequences of their acts. The different landscapes in\ud the northern peruvian coast are silent witnesses of these\ud changes.\ud \u
