Career of councilor and progressive ambition: analysis from the case of Rio Grande do Sul (2002-2010)

The work's purpose city councilors who ran for Congress (federal or state) of Rio Grande do Sul, in the elections of 2002, 2006 and 2010. It has two main objectives: (1) bring bibliographical information about the career city councilor and the motivations for this aspires to be deputy, which are summarized in two hypotheses drawn from this same literature; (2) test these hypotheses, which implies verify, in the proposed cut, the municipalities belonging to such councilors and the result obtained by them in the attempt
