The drawings of Diocletian’s Palace at Split which had belonged to the Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio represent the only surviving Renaissance drawings of the most important late antique architectural structure on the east Adriatic coast. Despite this, they have never been the sole subject of a scholarly publication. This article provides the first complete historiographical overview of the drawings and considers the ongoing debate about their authorship and date, as well as the impact they exerted in the subsequent centuries
