With the increasing penetration of the renewable power energy sources, the potential fault current of the distribution power systems changes more frequently as the connection structure of the distribution power system varies from time to time. Traditionally, the fault level can be estimated through short circuit analysis which is time consuming and sometimes difficult as it needs to know the parameters of the transmission line and transformers as well as the structure of the power system.
