Currently, there are important changes regarding the parental function, the paternity, the values and the way of life, as much in the individual context as in the environment of the family. It is longed for a theoretical psychological study, with the aim to reflect on the evolution of the paternal function in relation to the roles inside the family. The paternal function has evolved from a patriarchal view to a newer and larger contemporary: conception, a father who also provides support and care by looking after the children. Therefore, the father could be leaving to have a secondary role in relation to the mother.
