The cultivation of maize intercropped with cowpea is an alternative for the family farmer, which can provide greater economic returns and better use of the area under cultivation. The aim of this study therefore, was to evaluate the agronomic performance of maize, BRS Caatingueiro, intercropped with cowpea under different population densities and plant arrangements. The experimental design was of randomised blocks, with seven treatments and four replications, with each experimental unit consisting of one 4.0 x 4.0 m plot.
