This paper presents early historical references, dating from the late Middle Ages to about 1525, regarding musicians who worked in Seville. The aim of this research is to clarify the institutional origins of Early Modern musical structures in the city. The changes between those traditions that continued to be observed and new trends will be analysed for the period in question as well as their legacy for the late sixteenth century.
