The zebrafish model provides an essential platform for the study of human diseases or disorders due to the possession of about 87% homologous genes with human. However, it is still very challenging to noninvasively visualize the structure and function of adult zebrafish based on available optical imaging techniques. In this study, photoacoustic tomography (PAT) was utilized for high-resolution imaging of adult zebrafish by using focused and unfocused high-frequency (10 MHz) ultrasound transducers.
