Background & aim: Diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia through enzymatic and non-enzymatic processes causes induction of spontaneous oxidation of glucose and, by stimulating the production of active oxygen and nitrogen components, leading to oxidative stress.
