THE CHALLENGE OF UNDERTAKING A PHD: PHD MODELS AND DOCTORAL THESIS

The main objective of this paper is to present to PhD candidates the basic information about the types of doctoral and doctoral thesis development, key to the achievement of this goal. In order to accomplish this goal a descriptive and documentary research was conducted, using the technique of documentary observation to the available information and producing the notes, keys and thoughts reflected in this paper. In conclusion, it highlights the importance of undertaking a PhD in order to shape as a researcher, selecting the best suits the particular conditions, expertise and resources of the participant; regarding to the doctoral thesis, the contribution to knowledge, originality of the study, choice of both subject and work´s tutor, structure and language used are crucial
