Treatment of Class II div.1 malocclusion in non-growing patient

Class II div.1 malocclusion shows the characteristic of distoclusion and overjet more than 6mm. This condition usually disturbs the patient’s attractiveness. Orthodontic treatment carried out at the early age usually done by forces transmitted to suture palatine affecting maxillary growth or by combining interceptive treatment with functional appliance. The treatment of this malocclusion for adult had to be carried out thoroughly because of no-growth factor. This case was a 28 years old male with cephalometric showed SNA 90°, SNB 83°, ANB 7°, and 11mm overjet. Interdigitation showed was class I molar relationship on the right and class II on the left side, with class II canine relationship. The patient has convex profile, and poor oral hygiene. The aim of orthodontic treatment was to decrease overjet and aligning teeth. The treatment used metal bracket, slot .018” with MBT system without using additional anchorage. The treatment consists of leveling stage, extracting teeth, retracting anterior teeth, fixing interdigitation and retention. Four maxillary teeth (14, 53, 63, 24) were extracted to gain space for upper jaw and 45 at mandibular was also extracted. The extraction was performed step by step at the same time with carrying out anterior retraction phase of orthodontic treatment. After 30 months of active treatment, the braces were taken off and vacuum retainers were inserted. The result was esthetically and functionally accepted
