Beyond The Postcolonial: A Project in World Englishes Literature

This paper explores the meaning of ‘World Englishes literature’ and offers this as a manifestation of literature which is ‘beyond the postcolonial’. The notion of ‘World Englishes literature’ will draw on Kachruvian theory to define what constitutes ‘World Englishes literature’ and what does not. The paper goes on to present an anthology project of six volumes, a project which aims to demonstrate what, in terms of content and style, is manifest of the sense of being ‘beyond the postcolonial’. In addition to the anthology project, current published literary works are cited which support the findings of the anthology project in terms of illustrating the shifts in content and style in today’s emerging global Anglophone writing
