In order to achieve the sustained suppression of hepatitis B virus replication, the long-term and even life-long antiviral therapy is needed for patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). So the adherence to antiviral therapy is one of the critical factors for achieving effective therapy. In this article, the current studies on the adherence to antiviral therapy in patients with CHB are reviewed. The rate of patients′ adherence to antiviral therapy and its impact on treatment outcome are analyzed, and the influencing factors for adherence are summarized.
