Breastfeeding generates clear beneÞ ts for child and the mother’s health. However, when improperly performed, breastfeeding can cause serious consequences to the newborn, such as severe hypernatraemic dehydration and related complications. Despite the importance of early detection and treatment, prevention is fundamental. For this reason, it is crucial that strategies that support the process of correctly breastfeeding continue to be promoted. The authors describe the case of a newborn with hypernatraemic dehydration resulting from inadequate breastfeeding
