BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL) and hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) are key enzymes involved in intracellular lipid catabolism. We have previously shown decreased expression and activity of these lipases in adipose tissue of obese insulin resistant individuals.
