BACKGROUND: To compare short-term and long-term results of colorectal patients undergoing laparoscopic and open hepatectomy. Moreover, outcomes of laparoscopic versus open procedures for simultaneous primary colorectal tumor and liver metastasis resection were compared. METHODS: A systematic search was conducted in the PubMed and EmBase databases (until Oct. 22. 2013) with no limits.
