Partial discharges are an indicator of insulation deterioration in high-voltage equipment. In order to inspect substations for this' deterioration, many utilities perform scheduled radio frequency interference surveys performed by a trained operator using a narrowband receiver. These surveys can be both time consuming and inaccurate.
